THE BRITISH INSURANCE AWARDS 2008
Over 1800 of the great and good attended the British Insurance Awards ceremony on 9th July at the Royal Albert Hall. The BIA is based on a partnership between the judges, the magazines involved, the sponsors and the organisers. They showcase top class performance and innovation, they reward achievement and they raise standards. They are the awards to win.
Success at the Awards has become the benchmark by which the industry judges itself.
The judging panel of market experts and practitioners, analysts, consultants, industry commentators, and political and trade union representatives have a genuine expertise in each category, ensuring that the expertise is shared by at least 2 judges to spread the load and to ensure that no prejudices, gaps in knowledge of conflicts of interest cloud the decision-making process.
Each year the finalists and members of the industry gather at the gala evening to celebrate the success of the past year. The awards evening is one of the most noted and spectacular events in the insurance industry's calendar and is the only time each year that the industry comes together to select top performers.
This year the ceremony was hosted by TV personality and comedian Rob Brydon.
Entertainment was provided by The Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra conducted by the renowned Anthony Inglis, along with Paul Potts who sang his way to the first place of Britain's Got Talent 2007 with a rousing performance of the well known aria Nessun Dorma.
Also topping the bill were eScala – the 4 girl musical group that recently appeared in the finals of Britain's Got Talent 2008, along with a thrilling aerial performance by Cirque Bijou.
Details of next year's awards will be announced in January 2009.
